PARALYMPIC Swimmer Wants to Redeem Malaysia's Loss in Beijing Olympics

Handicapped swimmer Zul Amirul Sidi Adullah is determined to redeem the disappointing performance of the national swimmers who failed to grab any medal at the Olympic Games in Bejing, when he competes in the Paralympics from Sept 6 to 17 at the same venue.


Zul Amirul, 26, recorded a time of 42.74 seconds, the fifth fastest in the heats, improving on his previous 42.87s made at the 4th Asean Paralympics in Korat, Thailand early this year.

In the final, Zul Amirul’s fellow competitors will include China’s He Junquan, gold medallist at the Athens Paralympic Games.

In today’s heats, He created a new world record of 35.04s.

The final of the men’s S5 backstroke event will be held at 6.41pm.
Swimming, which offers 18 gold medals, enters its second day of the Games today.

Firstly, I must congratulate Lee Chong Wei for winning the silver medal.

Result: 21-12, 21-8

Chong Wei will still be considered a hero because he has contributed a silver to the country and at the same time ended a 12-year wait as Malaysia had not won a single medal since the 1996 edition.

Well done, Chong Wei !!! You have made our country proud of you - Olympics Silver medalist. Don't be so upset about your performance against Li Dan. We do understand there was a great pressure during match performance supported by thousands and thousands Lin Dan's fans in the court cheering him. Perhaps, it's my bad not being there to support you. But remember, all Malaysian are here supporting you! You can beat him next time. Best wishes!
